revolutionary speaker
one week til Angela Davis speaks at uofa! i've got my ticket and i've pinned it to my calendar. i anxiously anticipate ripping off the stub and traipsing through Horowitz theatre. she is being presented as part of the "Revolutionary Speakers" series. i presume she will be speaking about the penal system, but who knows. i will report back in rapt delight on the 29th. Stephen Lewis and Angela Davis in one semester: I wouldn't have thought it possible.
and yes, i'm contributing to the fetishizing of this cult photo. how can i not? she's gorgeous.

Cool Blog. Have you alread seen Stephen Lewis, or is he yet to come? Coincidentally, I'm reading "Race Against Time" right now! Let me know how the talk was. Since moving to Toronto, Heather and I have seen Noam Chomsky, George Gallaway and Ralph Nader...but Stephen Lewis would be awesome. Naomi Klien would be awesome too. But the acivist-intellectual that I most desire to see/hear is Tariq Ali. He is a real-life Anti-war hero.
yes, I saw Stephen Lewis this term, at our International week. It was AMAZING, so moving and upsetting.
He will be in Toronto in late May for the Congrerss Conference. David Suzuki, my perennial fav, will also be speaking. Perhaps you can see Lewis then?
Cheers!
stephen lewis makes my mascara run down my face. he will be in FREDERICTON april 19-20 for a pricey two-day conference sponsored by the wilmot united church, if you're interested in S.L. and a home-going...
