Las Vegas Vice Squad publishes photos of "50 most prolific prostitutes"

THIS is outrageous.

Where's the top grossing pimp list? A roll call of the most frequent Johns? This stunt is not about keeping prostitution off the streets and out of the public eye, the usual goal of most criminalizing gestures like this. It is about thievery, of all things; about sex workers stealing from clients. Give me a break.

The majority of women on the list have multiple arrests in relation to exchanging sex for money, or prostitution-related theft charges, inside several Strip hotels, NOT for street prostitution. Making a photo-roster which encourages the public to look, to attempt to control these women through collective judgement, provides no real i.e. measurable outcome. It is simply a new way to brand a scarlet P on their fetishized bosoms.

Excerpt:

'...it is time to stop the revolving door of prostitution-related arrests, especially when those arrests involve "trick rolls," in which prostitutes steal from men.

"We're talking about girls who have been arrested repeatedly over the years, ones that we all know by face and by name," said Hughes, citing one woman who was arrested 18 times in a single year.

"If they get the message that Las Vegas is not going to ignore their subsequent arrests, then maybe they'll take their lifestyle to a different city."

That's such a blatant case of victim blaming.

The more forward-thinking nations in the world have or are moving to decriminalise prostitution. I can't say that I'm surprised about this, as the US has a poor human rights record.

Apart from the extra damage this state is heaping on the people named, they're effectively lifting the blame from the pimps and johns who abuse these people.

Just A Comment From An Escort. The Leading Male Escort Of Las Vegas HERE. I have something to say about this situation. No one thinks about how we've become Escorts. I met a man, who worked with Helix Studio's. I gay porn company. He started pimping me out using craigslist.com. I have no shame so fuck you, if you think you matter enough to place your dirty opinion above my experience. I was written tickets that ruined my life for minor traffic infractions. I'm handicapt, emotionally. Bipolar and High Anxiety. I took this deal in order to pay my fines.

Before long, he got Dangerous to me being 18 and tiny as anything. I know nothing else. Okay. You guys who think we're the problem are fucked up. I have a pimp, and I don't get paid much. I'm a drug addict because of him. I don't know anything else. If I left, and ran, I would be homeless. Frankly I feel better being dressed nice, and safe. I'm taken care of and I eat everyday.

Also, I was a kid when I started out. I have a learning disability. I cannot read something and know what I read. I gave up on school, and I was rejected for being gay by my dad. This is all I know. So before you judge me, and all these other people, think about the cliental and the pimps. I obey him so I don't get hurt and so I have a safe home. I don't think police would provide this to me, and frankly I hate them. I've not been busted yet. But I will tell you, that you, the public, you don't understand the scene from my point of view.

I wonder if I have HIV every day. Although I'm as clean as a hospital with all sexual activitiy, it's a worry. I miss my siblings so I send them checks from what little I have. So judge me, hate me, fuck me. You, the public, are stupid. If I get caught, I know not to say names, or my family and I will suffer. So fuck you if you think what I am doing is wrong or a choice.

It's all I know. What I've read put me in tears, cause you can judge me and other "working" guys and ladies. I make a tidy living, just staying as pretty and healthy as I can. I put a smile on, and I live by the fact that the last thing that happens is that one things that kills you. Work to it.
