FemINist INitiative

After the Stronach snafu, which proved that sexism is as pervasive as ever in federal and provincial politics, as well as the media, as group in BC has launched a new political party (well, they are currently vying for party status) that will expound the values of INtegrity – INclusiveness – INnovation – INvolvement.

Over the summer citizens of BC voted against their government, asking for voter reform. This new party hopes to carry reform to the next election.

I'm impressed that they have decided to use the word Feminist in their name, as it is usually seen as exclusive and confrontational. It's time to start taking back this word and using it with more frequency! I'm hoping this group will have an effect on the education of the public: feminism is about gender, race and class issues of equality - NOT about man-bashing.
